QM350iUser ManualUser Manual Q Motion SeriesQM350i6Before suspending any speaker systemalways inspect all components (enclosure, rigging frames, track fittings, etc.) for cracks, deformations, corrosion, missing, loose ordamaged parts that could reduce strengthand safety of the array. Do not suspend thespeaker system until the correct preparationof the installation site has been taken to avoidhealth risks during and after the completionof the installation. A licensed ProfessionalEngineer must approve the placement andmethod of attachment to the structure prior tothe installation of any overhead object.Rotating the Horn FlareThe asymmetrical horn flare can be rotatedthrough three separate planes of dispersiondepending on the speaker box requirementand installation environment. The planes arevertical installation, horizontal installation andfoldback monitor.Good coverage of audiences often requireswide dispersion at the base of the horn flareto cover close listeners and a focused narrowdispersion at the top of the flare to beam tothe back of the room. The QM350i horizontal horn covers both“short-throw” and “long-throw” requirementsin a single system.Flying the QM350iFor the majority of installations (where thebox is installed vertically), the asymmetricalhorn should be used as supplied and will notneed to be rotated. For horizontal installation rotate 45 degreesso the arrow is pointing at the floor side soas to have the “beaming” facility at the top ofthe horn.Foldback HF coverageFor stage foldback monitors the coveragemust be wide when performers are closeto the wedge and beam down the stageto minimize the spill off the stage that mayinterfere with the main PA.For floor monitor use the horn must berotated with its “wide” dispersion (arrowindicator), side directed towards the top ofthe horizontal floor cabinet. When removing and reinstalling the front grillto rotate the horn, ensure the nuts are notover tightened as this may make them difficultto remove in future or cause them to break. If damaged, the cage nuts can be replacedeasily with standard rack mount cage nuts.WARNING Ensure the box is securely located. If any doubt about the physicalstability, tie the box down with ratchet straps to a secure base.
