Section 16-Radio EquipmentYou are now in the final stages incompleting the assembly of yourYak-54. Quique’s method ofmounting the radio receivers in hisproto-type airplanes: Starting withthe plywood mounting plate for thereceiver, motor control servo and theradio switch:1. Apply some beads of mediumC/A.2. Attach a piece of foam the size ofthe bottom of the receiver to thebase.3. Cover the bottom of the receivercompletely with wide maskingtape.4. Apply more beads of medium C/Aglue to the masking tape andplace the receiver on the top ofthe foam. This system has worked very well forhim for many years. The receiverfloats gently but is not fixed toofirmly. If a receiver is fastened tootight in the airplane there could beproblems with engine vibrationtransmitted to the receiver. SeeFigure 69 for an overall view of thefuel tank; throttle servo, receiver andswitch.Figure 69Here are some better views (SeeFigure 70 & 71) of the switch mountinside and the push/pull rod outsidethe fuse. You may need to makeyour own music wire rod to connectthe receiver switch to the outside ofthe fuse. You may also need to drill ahole in the switch button to acceptthe music wire. Perhaps your switchalready has the parts necessary tomake the connection outside thefuse.Figure 70Figure 7140
