Section VIII - Power$ync II™ OperationQuincy Compressor® - QSD™ 43Start-up DisplaysOnce the diagnostic program has determined that thecompressor is ready to begin operation, the followingdisplay will prompt the user to start the machine:STG 1 OUT TEMP______STG 2 IN TEMP______2 STAGE VERSION 1.04PRESS ENTER KEY TO SELECT MENU ORPRESS START BUTTON TO START COMPRESSOREach compressor is shipped from the factory withthe start-up configuration that was noted on theorder. If this configuration is satisfactory, pressSTART to begin compressor operation. Should achange in the configuration be required, or shouldyou desire to check that the proper configurationhas been entered into the controller, press ENTER.At this menu, press the button sequence F1-DOWN-UP-ENTER to lock out all adjustmentmenus. With the control locked, all operationaldisplays will be functional but access to adjustmentmenus will be stopped. When pressing thissequence of buttons, a message will appearwarning that you have pressed the wrong button.NOTICETHE KEYBOARD IS SECURED AGAINSTPOSSIBLE UNINTENDED ALTERATIONSSEE MANUAL TO UNLOCK THIS FUNCTIONThis is aimed at discouraging people from findingthe combination to the lock by accident. Pressingthe same sequence again will unlock theadjustment displays and menus. The purpose ofthis lockout feature is to prevent unauthorizedpersonnel from making changes to any setting onthe compressor.The UP or DOWN arrow keys will access the auxiliarypressure sensor displays:ADDITIONAL SENSORSSTG 1 OUT P______STG 2 OUT P______FLUID PRESSURE______UNITS: ______STG 2 OUT TEMP______This display is of the pressure readings for STAGE 1OUT, STAGE 2 OUT and the FLUID PRESSURE. Thesepressures provide verification of the normal operation ofthe compressor.Operational DisplaysWhen START is pressed, one of three displays shouldappear, depending on the mode of operation selected. If,however, the compressor has been manually stopped andan immediate restart is attempted, one of the followingmessages may appear:WARNING COMPRESSOR IS STARTINGCOMPRESSOR WILL START WHEN THE STAGE 2DISCHARGE PRESSURE IS UNDER 10 PSISTAGE 2 DISCHARGE PRES ________To avoid starting against a load, the Power$yncII ™ controller monitors the pressure in the Stage 2discharge pipe. It will not allow the compressorto start until the pressure has been relieved (downto 10 PSIG) through the blowdown valve. Whenthe pressure reaches that level, the compressor willrestart without further action.A starting display confirms that the compressor is startingand has all valves open:STG 1 OUT TEMP______STG 2 IN TEMP______COMPRESSOR IS STARTINGHOURS______STG 2 OUT TEMP______Power$ync II ™ checks for the proper rotation of thecompressor at start-up. If the compressor is rotating inthe wrong direction, the controller will shut the machinedown and display the following message:NOTICECOMPRESSOR HAS SHUT DOWN**NOTICE** POSSIBLE REVERSE ROTATIONREFER TO YOUR SERVICE MANUALPower$ync II ™ checks for reverse rotation bywatching the pressure rise in the STAGE 2discharge. It will shut the compressor down if theSTAGE 2 discharge pressure does not reach 8PSIG within fifteen seconds of the time that thestart button is pushed. If this message is displayed,disconnect and lockout and tag-out the powersupply to the compressor. Remove two of the threeleads supplying power to the starter. Reverse theirposition and reinstall them. Restore power to thecompressor and begin the start-up procedureagain.
