Section VIII - Power$ync II™ OperationQuincy Compressor® - QSD™ 59Cautionary and Shutdown DisplaysThe Power$ync II ™ controller constantly monitors theoperating conditions of the compressor. It has the mostextensive monitoring and reporting capability of anycompressor control on the market. LED indicators on asystem schematic identify the location of the problem andthe four-line, forty-character display explains the natureof the problem. If an inlet air filter element or a fluid filter element hasan excessive differential pressure, a light on theschematic will indicate which element is in need ofservice and a message will be briefly displayed thatdescribes the nature of the fault. The display will thenrevert to the original operating display and the LED willremain illuminated to draw attention to the condition. Inthis instance, one of the following message will bedisplayed:NOTICETHE AIR FILTER NEEDS SERVICINGPLEASE REPLACE AS SOON AS POSSIBLECONTACT YOUR SERVICE REPRESENTATIVENOTICETHE FLUID FILTER NEEDS SERVICINGPLEASE REPLACE AS SOON AS POSSIBLECONTACT YOUR SERVICE REPRESENTATIVEThese maintenance warnings will not cause thecompressor to shutdown. Proper filtration is keyto the long service life of this compressor, however, and the dirty element should be changed as soonas possible. The fluid filter does not contain abypass valve that might allow unfiltered fluid tobypass the element. Be aware that continuedoperation with a prolonged high differentialpressure warning indication may lead to areduction in fluid flow to the gears and bearings. This reduction in flow may cause temperatures torise, efficiencies to drop and reduced service lifefor the airend. Do not operate the compressor forextended periods of time with dirty and pluggedfiltration. Use only Genuine Quincy Compressorfilter elements for replacement.Conditions that would result in unsafe operation willcause the Power$ync II™ controller to shutdown thecompressor or alert the operator to shut the unit down. The following messages will be displayed when thecontroller detects a problem that would result in anunsafe operating condition:**********CAUTION**********COMPRESSOR HAS SHUT DOWNEMERGENCY STOP BUTTON WAS PRESSEDIf a condition exists at the compressor or in thecompressed air system that requires that thecompressor be stopped immediately, the red,mushroom-shaped Emergency Stop button can bepushed and the starter will immediately disengage. The Emergency Stop button will remain depresseduntil it is physically released. When the Power$yncII ™ controller detects that this button has beenpressed, it displays the message above to alertothers that the Emergency Stop button waspressed. Do not attempt to restart the compressoruntil it has been determined who pushed the buttonand why. To clear the message, press ENTER. Torestart the compressor, reset the Emergency Stopbutton and press the green Start button. Refer tothe trouble shooting section for other causes.
