Always include the model and serial numbersfrom the rating plate of the boiler/water heater in question.RATINGS & CAPACITIESBefore undertaking the installation of the Spectrum boiler/waterheater check the rating plate to ensure that the unit has been sizedproperly for the job. The "Net AHRI Ratings" specify the equivalentamount of direct cast iron radiation that the unit can supply undernormal conditions. Also ensure that the unit has been set upfor the type of gas available at the installation site. Otherimportant considerations are the availability of an adequate electricalsupply, fresh air for combustion and a suitable chimney or ventsystem.BOILER/WATER HEATER LOCATION1. This boiler/water heater is suitable for indoor and outdoorinstallations. Locate the boiler/water heater in an area thatprovides good access to the unit. Servicing may require theremoval of jacket panels. An optimum site will be level, central to the piping system, closeto a chimney and have adequate fresh air for combustion. Ensurethat the boiler/water heater is level from front to back and fromside to side. Use metal shims to level the boiler/water heater.Electrical and electronic components must also be protectedfrom exposure to water during operation and maintenance. DONOT install this boiler/water heater in a location that wouldsubject any of the gas ignition components to direct contactwith water or excessive moisture during operation or servicing.3. Locate the boiler/water heater in an area that will prevent waterdamage to adjacent construction should a leak occur or duringroutine maintenance. If such a location doesn’t exist, a suitabledrain pan that’s adequately drained must be installed under theunit. The pan must not restrict the flow of combustion air tothe unit.5. DO NOT place this boiler/water heater in a location that wouldrestrict the introduction of combustion air into the unit orsubject it to a negative pressure, see “GENERAL VENTINGGUIDELINES”.6. NEVER place this boiler/water heater in a location that wouldsubject it to temperatures at or near freezing. See the “FreezeProtection” section on page 8.Never store combustible materials, gasoline or anyproduct containing flammable vapors or liquids in thevicinity of the boiler/water heater. Failure to complywith this warning can result in an explosion or firecausing extensive property damage, severepersonal injury or death!Units installed outdoors MUST be protected from iceand snow accumulation or the unit will be damagedvoiding the warranty!
