Using TV Features Chapter 3 31You can select from the following inputs or channels:Disabled Choose this if you don’t have a device connected to the TV or if you don’t wantthe TV to automatically tune to the correct channel/input when you’re using this device.Channel 3 or 4 Device is connected to the ANTENNA/CABLE jack on the back of the TV,and you want the TV to tune to channel 3 when you press the corresponding button on theremote. Reminder: make sure the device’s Channel 3/4 switch is set to channel 3.VID (Video Input) Device is connected to the VIDEO INPUT jack on the back of the TV andyou want the TV to tune to the VIDEO INPUT channel when you press the correspondingdevice button.CMPT (Component Video Input) Compatible component VIDEO source, such as anHDTV tuner, satellite receiver, or DVD player, is connected to the three Component VIDEOINPUT jacks (Y Pb Pr) on the back of the TV and you want the TV to tune to the componentVIDEO INPUT channel (CMPT) when you press the corresponding device button.PC Device is connected to the PC INPUT jack on the back of the TV and you want the TVto tune to the PC input when you press the corresponding device buttonHDMI Device is connected to the HDMI/DVI INPUT on the back of the TV, and you wantthe TV to tune to the HDMI INPUT channel when you press the corresponding device button.Parental Controls and V-ChipThe choices in the US V-Chip and Canada V-Chip menus involve software inside your TVreferred to as V-Chip) which allows you to block TV programs and movies. TV programs canbe blocked by age-based ratings, such as TV-MA, which is explained on page 32. Ifavailable, TV programs can also be blocked by content, such as adult language (L). This isexplained on page 33. Movies can only be blocked by age-based ratings. This is explainedon page 37. Once you block programs, you can unblock programs by entering a password.By default, the software inside your TV is turned off or unlocked. For instructions to lockV-Chip, see page 32.How V-Chip Works for USA and CanadaV-Chip reads the program’s age-based rating (TV-MA, TV-14, etc.) and content themes [(Violence(V), Adult Language (L), etc.)]. If you have blocked the rating and/or content themes that theprogram contains, you will receive the message This channel is blocked. Change channel orpress OK to enter your password and temporarily deactivate the parental controls.Broadcasters are not required to provide content themes, so programs received with no con-tent themes will only be blocked if you block their age-based rating.
