Getting AssistanceChapter 8 79Dish PointingThe Dish Pointing menu helps you set up your HDTV and optimize your reception ofthe satellite signal.Selecting Dish TypeIt is important to complete each of the following steps required for your satellite dishantenna. If you do not, you will not receive proper dish pointing coordinates and willnot be able to take full advantage of your system.Specify the type of dish you are using:1. Press MENU on the remote control to bring up the Main menu.2. Select Assistance, then Dish Pointing.3. Use the arrows to highlight Select Dish, then press OK.4. Specify the type of dish you are using: a round satellite dish or an oval dish.Depending on the type of dish you have, the Select Dish menu will prompt you formore information about your satellite dish antenna.5. If you are using a round satellite dish, you are finished selecting your dish.6. If you are using an oval satellite dish, specify the number of satellite locationsfrom which your satellite dish antenna will be receiving signals. This number isequal to the number of LNBs (Low Noise Blocks) mounted on your dish. Forexample, if you have two LNBs, select 2 Satellite Location Dish.LNBsAn oval satellite dish with two LNBs.Peak SignalThe “Peak Signal”indicates the highestsignal strength you haveobtained, which is notnecessarily the highestpossible signal.While the maximumsignal strength is 100, thesignal strength youachieve will probably beless. Although there is nodifference in picturequality between signalstrengths of 60 and 85,the higher the signal, theless likely you are toexperience negativeeffects in degradedconditions such as rain orsnow (called “rain fade”).
