The trade associationmay in individual cases demand written proof in the form of test records, EDP protocols orsimilar.• It must be ensured that electrostatic spraying systems / plant and their accessories arechecked for safe operation by an expert as required, but at least once a year. These checksmust be documented in writing.• The following checks must be performed by an electrician1:Test cycle Test cycledaily weeklyExhaust air ducting systems for efficacy XProper functionality of overcurrent protection XProtection against high discharge energy XProtection against ignition of flammable cleaning agents XEfficacy of measures for protection against direct contact XEfficacy of earthing arrangements XInsulation of all live plant components > 1 kV undernormal operating conditions XInterlocking, access control X• Ensure that sufficient fire extinguishers are installed. Fire extinguishers must be checked regu-larly, but at least every 2 years. Staff must be instructed on use of the fire extinguishers.• A project-related, up to date alarm plan must be available, explaining the alarm system andcontrols (manual/automatic).1 ElectricianAn electrician is a person who, based on his technical training, knowledge, experience and knowledge of pertinent regula-tions, is capable of assessing the tasks assigned to him and detecting possible dangers (see § 2 Para. 3 UVV [AccidentPrevention Regulations] VBG [Institution for Statutory Accident Insurance and Prevention in the Administrative Sector] 4).An electrician furthermore has the following qualifications: Academic knowledge in the field of explosion protection and thespecialised field of electrostatic process technology, knowledge on the local conditions including the electrical system andawareness of the loading of the electrical system.
