RadioShack and RadioShack.com are trademarks used by RadioShack Corporation.08A0820-108APrinted in ChinaUsing Dynamo PowerThe radio has an internal rechargeablebattery pack that can be rechargedusing the dynamo-crank.1 Install the battery pack.2 Switch BATTERY/DYNAMO toDYNAMO .3 Lift the crank and rotateit in either direction. TheRECHARGING LED lights whencharging.Charge time depends on crankingrate and time. If turning the crank atabout 2 turns per second for about90 seconds does not power the radiofor at least 15 minutes, replace therechargeable battery pack.Replacing the Battery PackYour radio comes with an Ni-MH, 3.6V,300 mAh battery pack or equivalent.To replace the battery pack:1 Remove the battery pack, thenunplug the connector.2 Insert a new battery pack plug intothe connector, then place the batter yinto the slot.Installing Optional BatteriesInsert 3 AA batteries (optional; notincluded) into the battery compartmentmatching the marked polarity.Using an AdapterYou can also power your radio with a6V AC or DC adapter (not supplied)connected to your radio’s DC 6V jack.You must use a Class 2 powersource that supplies 6V DC anddelivers at least 300mA. Its centertip must be set to positive and itsplug must fit your radio’s 6V jack.Using an adapter that does notmeet these specifications coulddamage your radio or adapter.NOTEUsing the Radio1 Turn the VOLUME knob to turn onthe radio and adjust the volume.2 Use the BAND knob to select aradio band.3 Use the TUNING knob to tune toa station.• For best FM/WX reception, fullyextend the telescopic antenna.• The radio has a built-in AMantenna. Rotate your radio toimprove reception.• To avoid radio interference, do notcharge your mobile phone whilelistening to your radio.NOTESWeather AlertSelect the WX band to hear weatheralerts. During an alert, the ALERT LEDflashes, and the radio beeps if the WXFUNCTION switch is set to ALERT. SwitchWX FUNCTION to VOICE to listen to theweather band broadcasts.Connecting HeadphonesConnect headphones with a 1/8-inch(3.5 mm) plug (not supplied) to thejack. The speaker automatically mutes.Charging Your Mobile Phone1 Connect your mobile phone (notincluded to the USB port on theback of your radio using a USBcable (not included) with a tip thatmatches your phone (maximumcharging voltage and current6V/250mA).2 Slide the CELL PHONE CHARGEswitch to ON when charging, andOFF when finished.When charging your mobile phone,be sure to connect the Ni-MHrechargeable battery to your radio.NOTEListening Safely and TrafficSafetyTo protect your hearing, follow theseearphone guidelines:• Do not listen at extremely highvolume levels. Extended, high-volume listening can lead topermanent hearing loss.• Set the volume to the lowest settingbefore you begin listening. Afteryou begin listening, adjust thevolume to a comfortable level.• After you set the volume, do notincrease it. Over time, your earsadapt to the volume, so a level thatdoes not cause discomfort mightstill damage your hearing.• Do not wear earphones whileoperating a motor vehicle or ridinga bicycle. All replaced partsand products, and products on which a refund is made, become theproperty of RadioShack. New or reconditioned parts and products maybe used in the performance of warranty service. Repaired or replacedparts and products are warranted for the remainder of the originalwarranty period.
