26REMOTE TAD OPERATIONWhile you are away from your homeor office, you can use a touch-tonephone or a pulse (rotary) phone with apocket tone dialer to enter your re-mote operation security code and doany of the following:• Set the TAD to answer calls• Listen to your messages• Record a new announcement• Delete messages• Monitor the room where the TADis locatedUSING THE TOLL-SAVERIf the TAD is set to answer in threerings or more and there are new mes-sages (ones you have not played), theTAD answers two rings sooner thanyou set. For example, if you set it toanswer in five rings and there are newmessages, it will answer after threerings.If there are no new messages (or ifyou set the TAD to answer in two ringsor less), it answers according to thenumber of rings you set. This givesyou time to hang up before the TADanswers and avoid unnecessary long-distance charges.To use the toll-saver, be sure the TADis set to answer in three rings or more(see “Setting the Number of Rings” onPage 17).CHANGING THEREMOTE CODETo use your TAD-1006 from a remotetelephone, you must first enter a 3-digit remote operation security code.The security code for your TAD-1006is preset to 028.You can either use the preset code, orfollow these steps to change it whileyou are at the TAD.Notes:• If you forget your remote codeafter setting it, follow these stepsagain to set a new code.• In Steps 2 and 3, you must enteryour selection within 7 seconds.Otherwise, the TAD beeps threetimes then exits the programmingmode.
