Try pressingthe whistlebutton more slowly, taking approximately onefullsecondtofullydepressthebutton.Youmaybepressingthebuttontooquickly. Trypressingthe bell button moreslowly,taking approximatelyone fullsecondtofullydepressthebutton.This is normalbehavior. To prevent accidental high-speedstart-ups, Loco-Soundis programmedtostartupinneutralanytimetrackpowerhasbeenturnedoffforseveralseconds.Seethe"BasicOperation"sectionformoredetails.Youmaynotbesendingenoughpowertothetracktopowertheengine. Pressthe throttle up for a few more seconds toincreasetrackpower.Lock-out RemedyI can't get the engine to run after Ipower upthetransformer. Itsitsstillwiththeenginesoundsrunning.The engine won't lock into forward,neutral,orreverse.Theenginemaybelockedintotheneutralposition. Followthe procedure in the "Lock into a Direction" section tounlocktheengine'sdirection.Enginespeedmustbebelow10scalemph(approx.10voltsorlessinconventionalmode).Volume RemedyThesounds seem distorted,especially whentheHornorbellisactivated.No sound.Loco-Sound volume is set too high. Turn the volumecontrolknobonthebottomofthechassiscounter-clockwisetoreducethevolume.Volume issettoolow,adjustvolumecontrolknob on thebottom of thechassisclockwiseto increase thevolumeorcheckconnectortospeaker.Proto-Cast and -Dispatch RemedyWhen I trytoplaymusicormyvoicethroughmy engine's speakers,thereispopping and interference.MyProto-Cast soundsplaytooquietlyorunclearly.When I trytoplayProto-Cast,theengine'ssoundskeepbreakinginonmyrecording.When I runtwoLoco-Soundengines on tracks near eachother,the Proto-Cast andDispatch soundsplay frombothengines,notjustfrom theoneconnectedtotheaudiosource or microphone.Cleanthe trackwith denatured alcohol,asdescribedinthe"CleaningtheWheels,Tires,andTrack"section of thisbook.Unplugthe cable between theaudiosourceandtheremotelock-on. Re-plugitintotheaudiosourcefirst,thenintothelock-on,pushingfirmlytomakesureitisfullyinstalled.Your recording may be playing tooquietly to triggertheengine to stop playing its own sound set. Turnupthevolumeoftheaudiosourceyouareusing.This is normalbehavior. Because Loco-Sound usesradiowaves to transmit thesoundtotheengine, other Loco-Sound engines in the same rangewillalsopickupthesound. Try moving one of the sets.
