Using the Controller with a PC, continued66Configuring Generic Sensor DecodersGeneric sensors refer to analog sensors other thanflow sensors. The Sensor Wizard also gives youthe option to have sensor data in the MDC’s log.To select this option, click on “Log to File” in theMonitor Data column.1. On Sensor Decoder Wizard, click on Generic.2. Set up the alarm information, including Action,Object Type, Object ID, Absolute Limit,Conditions, Delay and Call Setup. Please notethat you can define two (2) alarm conditions perGeneric Sensor Decoder.3. Click Next to define alarms for another GenericSensor Decoder or Finish if you are done.Configuring Flow Sensor DecodersThe measurement of flow rate in the mainline isone of the most important measurements in anirrigation system. Flows that are out of range, eitherhigh or low, can be reported and acted upon. Flowsensors can be read remotely by your MDC systemhardware designed with this feature.Your MDC control system can continually checkon the flow rate in the system and compare it topre-defined acceptable levels. It can also be set upto make an outgoing page if the MDC is connectedto a phone line. You can define the flow alarmthresholds as follows:1. The Sensor Decoder Wizard provides an optionto include individual sensor flow readings in asummed flow. To select this option, click on thebox next to the sensor decoder number (SD_) inthe Include in Sum column. To have data fromindividual flow sensors recorded in the MDClog, click on “Log to file” in the Monitor Datacolumn. Summed flow is always recorded.2. On Sensor Decoder Wizard, click on Flow.3. Set up the alarm information, including Action,Object Type, Object ID, Flow Limit, Conditions,Delay and Call Setup. Please note that you candefine only one alarm condition per Flow SensorDecoder. These options can also be set up forsummed flow if that was previously selected inthe Sensor Decoder Wizard.4. On the Sensor Decoder Wizard, click on Next.
