Manual-13DH 1 and ECA 1 InstallationECA 1DH 1ECM 64 OptionsTwo internal cards are available for the ECM 64. TheECM 64AD already includes both options.ECA 1 Acoustic Echo CancellerThe ECA 1 is a continually adaptive Acoustic EchoCanceller (AEC) module, required when the ECM 64 is usedfor audio teleconferencing. The ECA 1 installs by temporarily removing the top coverof the ECM 64 and seating the module onto factory installedstandoffs on the motherboard. The connectors on the ECA 1and the motherboard are keyed, so there is only one directionthat the ECA 1 can be installed (see below). Warning: Toprotect against damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD)proper control measures must be followed.See page Manual-10 for Acoustic Echo Canceller opera-tion.DH 1 Digital HybridThe DH 1 Digital Hybrid allows audio conferencing over astandard POTS 2-wire phone line. A 32 millisecond Line EchoCanceller is utilized to remove line echo caused by the four-wire to two-wire conversion. In a standard telephone the echocaused by this conversion is actually beneficial to the user asside-tone. With a conference system line echo can cause alltypes of problems including feedback and echo cancellerproblems. The DH 1 installs by first temporarily removing the topcover of the ECM 64 and the rear phone jack cover on theback of the ECM 64. See the diagram on page Manual-6. Seatthe DH 1 module from its bottom side onto the ECM 64 J10header. Make certain that the header pins are properly alignedwith the DH 1 before applying force to seat the card. Warn-ing: To protect against damage from electrostatic discharge(ESD) proper ESD control measures must be followed wheninstalling the DH 1.
