The cable size usedshould be suitable for this load and complywith all local requirements.• The cooker may be installed in a kitchen/kitchen diner but NOT in a roomcontaining a bath or shower.• This cooker must be earthed.• This cooker MUST NOT be connected toan ordinary domestic power point.• It is normal for the hob control displayto flash for about 2 seconds during firstpower setting.• Set the clock to make sure that the oven isfunctional – see the relevant section in thismanual.• The appliance must be installed inaccordance with the regulations in forceand only in a well ventilated space.• Failure to install the appliance correctlycould invalidate any warranty or liabilityclaims and lead to prosecution.• DO NOT install the appliance on aplatform.• DO NOT manouvre the cooker while it isplugged into the electricity supply.• Before electrical reconnection, check thatthe appliance is electrically safe.Peculiar smellsWhen you first use your cooker it may give offan odour. This should stop after use.Before using for the first time, make sure thatall packing materials have been removed andthen, to dispel manufacturing odours, turn theovens to 200 °C and run for at least an hour.Before using the grill for the first time youshould also turn on the grill and run for 30minutes with the grill pan in position, pushedfully back and the grill door open.Make sure the room is well ventilated to theoutside air (see ‘Ventilation’ below). People withrespiratory or allergy problems should vacatethe area for this brief period.VentilationThe use of a cooking appliance results in theproduction of heat and moisture in the roomin which it is installed. Therefore, make surethat the kitchen is well ventilated: keep naturalventilation holes open or install a poweredcookerhood that vents outside. If you haveseveral hotplates/burners on, or use the cookerfor a long time, open a window or turn on anextractor fanMaintenance• Only a qualified service engineershould service the appliance and onlyapproved spare parts should be used. Itis recommended that this appliance isserviced annually.• Before replacing the bulb, turn off thepower supply and make sure that the ovenis cool.• DO NOT use cooking vessels on thehotplate that overlap the edges.• Unless specified otherwise in this guide,always allow the cooker to cool and thenswitch it off at the mains before cleaning orcarrying out any maintenance work.
