Use a brush to remove grass clippings from blades.Blades are extremely sharp and can cause serious injuries7 OPERATIONDO NOT USE ON SLOPES GREATER THAN 15°WARNINGOPERATION OF THE MACHINERead the Safety Instructions.BEFORE OPERATING FOR THE FIRST TIME• Check and adjust tyre pressure, ifnecessary, to 1 kg/cm 2 .• Add diesel fuel to tank if neccesary.• Add LPG if neccesary, see self-ServeInstructions below.• Check engine oil and top-up, ifnecessary.• Check radiator coolant and top-up, ifnecessary (50% antifreeze solution).• Make sure you understand the informationcontained in the preceeding GeneralInstructions and Instruments & Controlssections.7.4 STARTING THE ENGINEThe following procedure is for starting cold engines.1. Ensure the FWD/RVS pedal is in theneutral position, the speed limiter is in thetransport position, the mow switch off, thethrottle setting is in a mid position and theparking brake is applied.2. Turn the ignition switch to position No.2and hold until the glow plug light goes off(5-10 sec.)3. Turn ignition key fully clockwise to thestart position and operate the starter motoruntil the engine starts (This should onlytake a few seconds)4. When the engine starts, release the keyimmediately and it will return to the RUNposition.5. If the engine does not start, preheat theglow plugs and try again.NOTES:• Warm engine - When the engine is warmbecause of surrounding temperature orrecent operation, step No.2 of the coldengine starting procedure may be skipped(no need to preheat glow plugs).• If the engine fails to start after two tries(with preheat if necessary), wait 20seconds and try again.• The starter motor should never be runcontinuously for longer than 30 seconds orit may fail.7.5 DRIVING• Release brake - Make sure the parkingbrake is released before attempting to goforward or reverse.• Forward - Gently depress the top plate ofthe FWD/RVS foot pedal to reach desiredground speed.• Reverse - Gently depress the bottom plateof the FWD/RVS foot pedal to reachdesired ground speed. Engage 4 wheeldrive if required, where fitted.• To stop - Gently return the FWD/RVS footpedal to the neutral position.NOTES:• Use complete foot to operate both forwardand reverse.• Do not move pedal suddenly–alwaysoperate slowly and smoothly. Never movepedal violently from forward to reverse orvice versa.• Always keep foot firmly on the foot pedal–atoo relaxed foot control may result in a jerkymotion.
