CHAPTER 6: VIRTUAL KVM CLIENT 49Mouse Pointer SynchronizationWhen remotely viewing a target server that uses a mouse, you will see two mouse pointers: onebelonging to your remote client workstation and the other belonging to the target server. Whenthe mouse pointer lies within the Virtual KVM Client target server window, mouse movementsand clicks are directly transmitted to the connected target server. While in motion, the clientmouse pointer slightly leads the target mouse pointer due to mouse acceleration settings.Figure 28: Dual Mouse CursorsOn fast LAN connections, you may want to disable the Virtual KVM Client mouse pointer andview only the target server’s pointer. You can toggle between these two modes (single mouse anddual mouse). Refer to Mouse Menu for additional information about the available mouse modes.Mouse Synchronization TipsBe sure to follow these steps when obtaining mouse synchronization:1. Verify that the selected video resolution and refresh rate is among those supported by theDominion KX II. The Virtual KVM Client Connection Info dialog displays the actual valuesthat the KX II is seeing. Please refer to Supported Video Resolutions for more informationabout the video resolutions that are supported.2. Verify that the cable length is within the specified limits for the selected video resolution. Please refer to Target Server Connection Distance and Video Resolution for moreinformation.3. Verify that the mouse and video have been properly configured during the installation process. Please refer to Chapter 3: Installation and Configuration for complete instructions.4. Force an auto-sense by clicking the Virtual KVM Client auto-sense button.5. If that does not improve the mouse synchronization (for Linux, UNIX, and Solaris targetservers):a. Open a terminal window.b. Enter the xset mouse 1 1 command.c. Close the terminal window.6. Click the Virtual KVM Client mouse synchronization button.Remote Client Mouse Target Server Mouse
