User Guide 29S1000 Alarm messagesWhen the S1000 detects a fault or failure on the system, it will activate oneof the alarm messages listed in the following table.Unless otherwise stated, you should respond to the alarm by pressingstandby to clear the alarm and return to manual control, before you attemptto resolve the problem.In some situations, the S1000 will raise more than one alarm. When youhave dealt with the first alarm, it will display the next alarm.ALARM MESSAGE POSSIBLE CAUSE and SOLUTIONCHECK PILOT See the main autopilot display head for infor-mation on this alarm.CURRENT LIMIT Serious drive failure – the drive is taking toomuch current due to short-circuit or jamming.Check the drive unit.DRIVE STOPPED The autopilot is unable to turn the rudder (thisoccurs if the weather load on helm is too high,or if the rudder position sensor has passedbeyond the preset rudder limits or rudder end-stops).Check drive.LARGE XTE This alarm will sound when you are more than0.3nm from your planned track.
