11.1 AlarmsAlarms alert you to a situation or hazard requiringyour attention.You can set up alarms to alert you to certainconditions.Alarms are raised by system functions, and alsoexternal equipment connected to your display.When an alarm event occurs an audible and visualalarm is activated which indicates the alarm state.Alarm thresholds can be configured from the relevantalarm page / menu.Instrument alarmsThe alarms available on each instrument displayvariant are shown below.• Shallow Alarm — Available on i40 Bidata and i40Depth instrument displays.• Deep Alarm — Available on i40 Bidata and i40Depth instrument displays.• Shallow Anchor Alarm — Available on the i40Bidata and i40 Depth instrument displays.• Deep Anchor Alarm — Available on the i40Bidata and i40 Depth instrument displays.• High Wind speed Alarm — Available on the i40Wind instrument displays.Alarm indicationsAn alarm event is indicated by both audible andvisual warnings.Shallow alarmD12514-1The Shallow alarm is available on both the i40 Bidataand i40 Depth instruments. The anchoralarms sound when either:• Depth is equal to or less than the Shallow anchoralarm threshold, or• Depth is equal to or more than the Deep anchoralarm threshold.The alarm sounds until silenced manually.High wind speed alarmD12517-1The High wind speed alarm is available on thei40 Wind instrument. The High wind speed alarmsounds when the wind speed exceeds the Highwind speed alarm threshold. The alarm sounds untilsilenced manually.True wind — If vessel speed information is availableat the instrument (from a SeaTalk bus) the alarm istriggered if True wind speed exceeds the threshold.Apparent wind — If vessel speed information is notpresent, the alarm is triggered if the Apparent windspeed exceeds the threshold.Silencing alarms1. Press any button to silence an active alarm.Enabling / Disabling alarmsAlarms can be enabled or disabled at any time.With the relevant alarm page displayed:1. Press and hold the Up button for 3 seconds toswitch the alarm on or off.Setting alarm thresholdsYou can adjust the threshold at which alarms aretriggered by following the steps below.D12518-1+-+With the relevant alarm page displayed:1. Press the Up and Down button simultaneouslyto enter edit mode.2. Use the Up button to increase the alarmthreshold.3. Use the Down button to decrease the alarmthreshold.4.
