3.7 Warnings and cautionsImportant: Before proceeding, ensure that youhave read and understood the warnings andcautions provided in the Chapter 1 Importantinformation section of this document.3.8 General location requirementsWhen selecting a location for your display it isimportant to consider a number of factors.Key factors which can affect product performanceare:• VentilationTo ensure adequate airflow:– Ensure that equipment is mounted in acompartment of suitable size.– Ensure that ventilation holes are not obstructed.Allow adequate separation of equipment.Any specific requirements for each systemcomponent are provided later in this chapter.• Mounting surface.Ensure equipment is adequately supported on asecure surface. Do not mount units or cut holesin places which may damage the structure of thevessel.• Cable entryEnsure the unit is mounted in a location whichallows proper routing and connection of cables:– Minimum bend radius of 100 mm (3.94 in)unless otherwise stated.– Use cable supports to prevent stress onconnectors.• Water ingressThe display is suitable for mounting both aboveand below decks. It is waterproof to IPX6standard. Although the unit is waterproof, it isgood practice to locate it in a protected area awayfrom prolonged and direct exposure to rain andsalt spray.• Electrical interferenceSelect a location that is far enough awayfrom devices that may cause interference,such as motors, generators and radiotransmitters/receivers.• Magnetic compassSelect a location that is at least 3 ft (1 m) awayfrom a magnetic compass.• Power supplySelect a location that is as close as possible to theboat’s DC power source.
