66 | City Series CB50Einstallation1. Locate the unit in the framing, rough in the gas(preferably on the right side of the unit). Locatethe centerline of the termination and mark wallaccordingly. Cut an square hole in the wall - seechart (inside dimension).Note: If installing termination on asiding covered wall, a vinyl sidingstandoff or vinyl furring stripsmust be used to ensure that thetermination is not recessed intothe siding.2. Level the fireplace and fasten it to the framingusing nails or screws through the nailing strips.3. Assemble the vent assembly by applying Mill-Pacto the inner flue collar of the termination andslipping the inner flex liner over it at least 1-3/8"(35mm). Fasten with the 3 screws (drilling pilotholes will make this easier). Apply Mill-Pac tothe outer flex pipe and slip it over the outer fluecollar of the vent terminal at least 1-3/8"(35mm)and fasten with the 3 screws.Outside WallMur extérieurFurringStripsFourrures en boisFurstrp.epssee also c34020a.epsfurstrpf.epsfrenchAstroCap XLTermination Cap2” x 4” or 2” x 6”8" dia.air intake5” dia. flue pipewith spring spacerScrewsScrewsWall ThimbleVinyl Siding12-1/4”(311 mm)12-1/4”(311 mm)ASTROCAP XLDIMENSIONS (946-623/P)Horizontal Top 3" (76mm)Horizontal Side 2 " (51mm)Horizontal Bottom 2" (51mm)Vertical Vent 2" (51mm)Minimum Vent Clearances toCombustiblesUnit Installation withHorizontal Termination - 5" x8" Venting (Flex Vent Systems)NOTE: Horizontal sections must besupported at intervals not exceeding3 feet (0.9 meter). (Flame pictureand performance will be affected bysags in the liner).4. Separate the 2 halves of the wall thimble andsecurely fasten the one with the tabs to theoutside wall making sure that the tabs areon top and bottom. Fasten the other thimblehalf to the inside wall. The thimble halves slipinside each other and can be adjusted for 2x 4 or 2 x 6 walls.5. Slip the assembled liner and terminationassembly through the thimble making sure thetermination cap faces up (there are markingson the cap that show which way is up). Thiswill position the termination cap with properdown slope for draining water. Fasten the capto the outer wall with the 4 supplied screws.6. Pull the centre inner and outer flex liner outenough to slip over the flue collars of thefireplace. (You may wish to cut the linershorter to make it more workable.) Do notbend liner more than 90º. The liners mustslip over the collars a minimum of 1-3/8".7. Apply Mill-Pac over the fireplace inner fluecollar and slip the inner flex liner down overit and attach with 3 supplied screws.8. Do the same with the outer flue collar andouter flex liner.9. Apply a bead of silicone between the thimbleand termination and around the outer edgeof the terminal at the wall in order to keepthe water out.IMPORTANT: Do not locate terminationhood where excessive snow or icebuildup may occur. Be sure to checkvent termination area after snowfalls, and clear to prevent accidentalblockage of venting system. Whenusing snow blowers, make sure snow isnot directed towards vent terminationarea.* Clearances noted below must be maintained;except when passing through a wall, ceiling orat the termination where the use of a firestop orwall thimble reduces clearance to 1-1/2" (38mm).Recommended FramedOpening SizeVent Size Framing Size5" x 8" 11" x 11"Below are the recommended framing dimensions(inside measurements) for the 5" x 8" rigid ventterminations - for use with a firestop or wallthimble.Diagram 1Diagram 2Diagram 3Min. 45-3/4’’ (1162 mm)centerof holeHorizontal Terminations - Flex Vent 5" x 8" (Non Power Vent)
