Regency Horizon™ HZ40E Gas Fireplace 9INSTALLATIONThis includes:1) Clocking the appliance to ensure the correctfiring rate (rate noted on label 26,000 Btu/h(NG), 25,500 Btu/h (LP) after burning appliancefor 15 minutes.2) If required, adjusting the primary air to ensurethat the flame does not carbon. First allow theunit to burn for 15-20 min. to stabilize.CAUTION: Any alteration to the product thatcauses sooting or carboning that results in dam-age is not the responsibility of the manufacturer.INSTALLATIONCHECKLIST1) Locate appliancea) Room location (Refer to "Locating Your Gasfireplace" section)b) Clearances to Combustibles (Refer to"Clearances" section)c) Mantle Clearances (Refer to "MantelClearances" section)d) Framing & Finishing Requirements (Referto "Framing & Finishing" section)e) Venting Requirements (Refer to "Venting"section)2) Position nailing strips (Refer to "Unit AssemblyPrior to Installation).3) Slide unit into place.4) Remove installation access panel.5) Install vent (Refer to "Venting Arrangement"sections).6) Make gas connections (Refer to "Gas LineInstallation section).7) Make electrical connections to receptaclesupplied with unit (recommended).8) Wall Mounted ON/OFF Switch:Use the toggle wall switch supplied with themanual package. Use of a “decor” switch causeshigher resistance which is a problem on gasfireplaces.9) Install 4 AA batteries into wall mounted batterybox receptacle on wall.10) Test the pilot (Refer to "Pilot Adjustment"section).11) Test Gas Pressure (Refer to "Gas Pipe PressureTesting" section).12) Install standard and optional features. Refer tothe following sections:a) Glass Crystals/ Optional CeramicStonesb) Optional Firebox Base Pebblesc) Optional Reflective Panelsd) Optional Fane) Faceplatef) Remote Control or Wall Thermostatand 10ft. wire harness.13) Reinstall installation access panel.14) Final check.Before leaving this unit with the customer, theinstaller must ensure that the appliance is firingcorrectly and operation fully explained tocustomer.LOCATING YOURGAS FIREPLACE1) When selecting a location for your fireplace,ensure that the clearances are met.2) The appliance must be installed on a flat, solid,continuous surface For example a wood, metalor concrete floor or in a raised (on the wall) ap-plication. The appliance must be installed ona metal or wood panel extending the full widthand depth of the appliance.3) The HZ40E Direct Vent Gas Fireplace can beinstalled in a recessed position or framed outinto the room as in A, B, C and D.See Diagram 1.Diagram 1A) Flat on WallB) Flat on Wall CornerC) Recessed into Wall/AlcoveD) Corner4) This appliance is Listed for bedroominstallations using the standard Remote(thermostat system). Some areas may havefurther requirements, check local codes beforeinstallation.5) The HZ40E Direct Vent Gas Fireplaceis approved for alcove installations, see"Clearances" section for details.6) We recommend that you plan your installationon paper using exact measurements forclearances and floor protection before actuallyinstalling this appliance. Have an authorizedinspector, dealer, or installer review your plansbefore installation.Note: For vent terminations refer to "ExteriorVent Termination Locations" section.HEATWAVEDUCT SYSTEMOPTIONAL KIT #946-556The HeatWave Air Duct Kit increases theeffectiveness of your fireplace by dispersing warmair from the fireplace to remote locations in the sameroom or other rooms in your home.Up to two kits may be installed on the fireplace.Please Note: Only 1 HeatWave kit may be oper-ated at one time. This includes the internal bloweroption as well.OPTIONALHEAT RELEASE KIT#946-570The Heat Release Kit expels warm air from thefireplace to the outside of the building, allowingthe fireplace to be operated with less heat enteringthe room. The kit may be used on either the leftor right side.The HeatWave Duct Kit has differentclearance and framing requirements, checkthe HeatWave manual for details.
