HZ42 Regency Horizon TM Gas Fireplace8INSTALLATIONINSTALLATIONThis includes:1) Clocking the appliance to ensure the correctfiring rate (rate noted on label 26,000 Btu/h(NG), 24,500 Btu/h (LP) after burningappliance for 15 minutes.2) If required, adjusting the primary air to ensurethat the flame does not carbon. First allowthe unit to burn for 15-20 min. to stabilize.CAUTION: Any alteration to the product thatcauses sooting or carboning that resultsin damage is not the responsibility of themanufacturer.INSTALLATIONCHECKLIST1) Locate appliancea) Room location (Refer to "Locating YourGas fireplace" section)b) Clearances to Combustibles (Refer to"Clearances" section)c) Mantle Clearances (Refer to "MantelClearances" section)d) Framing & Finishing Requirements (Referto "Framing & Finishing" section)e) Venting Requirements (Refer to "Venting"section)2) Assemble Standoffs (Refer to "Unit AssemblyPrior to Installation).3) Slide unit into place.4) Install vent (Refer to "Venting Arrangement"sections).5) Make gas connections (Refer to "Gas LineInstallation section).6) Make electrical connections to receptaclesupplied with unit (recommended).7) Install 1 AA battery into DC spark box.8) Test the pilot (Refer to "Pilot Adjustment"section).9) Test Gas Pressure (Refer to "Gas Pipe Pres-sure Testing" section).10) Install standard and optional features. Referto the following sections:a) Glass Crystals/ Optional CeramicStonesb) Optional Firebox Base Pebblesc) Optional Reflective Panelsd) Optional Accent Lighte) Faceplatef) Remote Control or Wall Thermostat11) Wall Mounted ON/OFF Switch:Use the toggle wall switch supplied with themanual package. Use of a “decor” switchcauses higher resistance which is a problemon gas fireplaces.12) Final check.Before leaving this unit with the customer, theinstaller must ensure that the appliance is firingcorrectly and operation fully explained tocustomer.LOCATING YOURGAS FIREPLACE1) When selecting a location for your fireplace,ensure that the clearances are met.2) The appliance must be installed on a flat,solid, continuous surface For example awood, metal or concrete floor or in a raised (onthe wall) application. The appliance must beinstalled on a metal or wood panel extendingthe full width and depth of the appliance.3) The HZ42 Direct Vent Gas Fireplace can beinstalled in a recessed position or framed outinto the room as in A, B, C and D.See Diagram 1.Diagram 1A) Flat on WallB) Flat on Wall CornerC) Recessed into Wall/Alcove4) This appliance is Listed for bedroominstallations using the standard Remote(millivolt thermostat system). Some areasmay have further requirements, check localcodes before installation.5) The HZ42 Direct Vent Gas Fireplace isapproved for alcove installations, see"Clearances" section for details.6) We recommend that you plan your installationon paper using exact measurements forclearances and floor protection beforeactually installing this appliance. Have anauthorized inspector, dealer, or installerreview your plans before installation.Note: For vent terminations refer to"Exterior Vent Termination Locations"section.
