Recommended areas to inspect as follows:1) Check the Venting System for corrosion in areasthat are exposed to the elements. These willappear as rust spots or streaks, and in extremecases, holes. These components should bereplaced immediately.2) Remove the Cap, and shine a flashlight down theVent. Remove any bird nests, or other foreignmaterial.3) Check for evidences of excessive condensation, such as water droplets forming in the innerliner, and subsequently dripping out the joints,Continuous condensation can cause corrosionof caps, pipe, and fittings. It may be causedby having excessive lateral runs, too manyelbows, and exterior portions of the systembeing exposed to cold weather.4) Inspect joints, to verify that no pipe sections orfittings have been disturbed, and consequentlyloosened. Also check mechanical supports suchas Wall Straps, or plumbers' tape for rigidity.GOLD-PLATEDLOUVERS/TRIMThe 24 carat gold-plated finish on the louvers andtrim requires little maintenance, and need only becleaned with a damp cloth. DO NOT use abrasivematerials or chemical cleaners, as they may harmthe finish and void the warranty. Clean any fi nger-prints off before turning the unit on.LOG REPLACEMENTThe unit should never be used with broken logs. Turnoff the gas valve and allow the unit to cool beforeopening door and carefully remove the logs. (Thepilot light generates enough heat to burn someone.)If for any reason a log should need replacement, youmust use the proper replacement log. The positionof these logs must be as shown in the diagramsunder Log Installation.Note: Improper positioning of logs may createcarbon build-up and will severely alter theunit's performance which is not coveredunder warranty.NORMAL OPERATINGSOUNDS OFGAS APPLIANCESIt is possible that you will hear some sounds fromyour gas appliance. This is perfectly normal due tothe fact that there are various gauges and typesof steel used within your appliance. Listed beloware some examples. All are normal operatingsounds and should not be considered as defectsin your appliance.Blower:Regency ® gas appliances use high tech blowersto push heated air farther into the room. It is notunusual for the fan to make a "whirring" soundwhen ON. This sound will increase or decreasein volume depending on the speed setting of yourfan speed control.Burner Tray:The burner tray is positioned directly under theburner tube(s) and logs and is made of a differentgauge material from the rest of the firebox andbody. Therefore, the varying thicknesses ofsteel will expand and contract at slightly differentrates which can cause "ticking" and "cracking"sounds. You should also be aware that as thereare temperature changes within the unit thesesounds will likely re-occur. Again, this is normalfor steel fireboxes.Blower Thermodisc:When this thermally activated switch turns ONit will create a small "clicking" sound. This is theswitch contacts closing and is normal.Pilot Flame:While the pilot flame is on it can make a very slight"whisper" sound.Gas Control Valve:As the gas control valve turns ON and OFF, adull clicking sound may be audible, this is normaloperation of a gas regulator or valve.Unit Body/Firebox:Different types and thicknesses of steel will expandand contract at different rates resulting in some"cracking" and "ticking" sounds will be heardthroughout the cycling process.
