When the machine has reachedthe operating temperature the display willshow the message: selectproduct r e a d y f o r u s eTo dispense coffee or steam and use themachine properly, you should carefullyfollow the instructions below.5 PREPARING COFFEEThe machine is ready for use as soon asthe message selectproduct r e a d y f o r u s e appears onthe display. The coffee dispenser may be adjustedto the desired height. This allows you touse cups of various sizes and themachine may be adapted to individualneeds. After use, set the dispenser backin the original position. Place one or two cups on the driptray (3) and press the button for makingthe type of coffee preferred (18, 19, or20).5.1 Coffee grinderWarning! The grinderadjustment knob inside the29coffee container must be turned onlywhile the coffee grinder is operating.Do not introduce ground and/orfreeze-dried coffee in the coffee beancontainer.Do not introduce any materialother than coffee beans. Insidethe coffee grinder there are movingparts that may be dangerous; do notplace your fingers and/or other objectsinside the grinder. Before performingany kind of operation inside the coffeecontainer, switch off the machine andunplug it. Do not introduce coffeebeans while the grinder is operating.The quality and flavor of yourcoffee will depend not only on theblend you use but also on how finelyyou grind it. The machine has a knob(11) for adjusting the grind. To adjustthe grind, turn the graduated knobwhile the grinder is operating; thenumbers on the knob indicate thefineness of the grind. Every machineis factory-regulated to a medium-sizedgrind; turn the knob to lower numbersto obtain a coarser grind, turn the knobto higher numbers to obtain a finergrind. The variation in the fineness ofthe grind will be noted only after threeor four coffees have been dispensed.Use blends of coffee beans forespresso machines. Avoid usingextreme grind settings (e.g. 1 16); inthese cases use different blends ofcoffee. Store coffee in an airtightcontainer in a cool, dry place.You should adjust the grind setting whenthe coffee is not dispensed properly:Coffee pours out too fast = excessivelycoarse grind > set knob on a finer grind;Coffee drips out slowly and/or not at all= excessively fine grind > set knob oncoarser grind.ii
