35D. General Vehicle InstallationTighten Vehicle BeltPush down firmly on thechild restraint and whilepulling on the shoulder beltto tighten.4. Rebuckle Vehicle Belt8.36Locate Locking ClipLocationGrasp both vehicle beltstogether just behind thelatch plate and unbuckle.NOTE: If the latch plateends up just at the belt pathopening, grasp the beltson the opposite side of thechild restraint, as close tothe latch plate as possible.5.Attach Locking ClipThread both portions of thevehicle belt onto the lockingclip, as close to the latchplate as possible.6.Position Locking ClipPosition locking clip about1 in. (2.5 cm) from vehiclebelt’s latch plate.7.Thread Vehicle BeltThread the vehicle lap/shoulder belt combinationthrough the rear-facingbelt slot.2.1 2Pull Vehicle Belt AcrossChild RestraintThread vehicle seat beltunder pad in front ofbuckle strap to the oppositeside. Buckle vehicle belt.Do not place vehicle beltover child’s legs.3.NOTE: The buckle MUST be in the 1st or 2nd buckle strapslots when rear-facing. Any slot can be used forforward-facing.You may need to place alarge rolled towel(s) or foampool noodle(s) (A) under thefront of the child restraintto help achieve the correctrecline.
