EB 2517 EN 5Safety instructions and measures1 Safety instructions and measuresIntended useThe SAMSON Type 41-73 Excess Pressure Valve consists of a Type 2417 Valve and aType 2413 Actuator. The valve and actuator are delivered separately and must be assembledaccording to the instructions in this document. The self-operated regulator is used to control the upstream pressure p 1 in the pipeline to theadjusted set point. Liquids, gases and vapors in processing and industrial plants can be con-trolled by the regulator. The regulators are designed to operate under exactly defined conditions (e.g. operatingpressure, process medium, temperature). Therefore, operators must ensure that the regulatorsare only used in operating conditions that meet the specifications used for sizing the devicesat the ordering stage. In case operators intend to use the regulators in other applications orconditions than specified, contact SAMSON.SAMSON does not assume any liability for damage resulting from the failure to use the de-vice for its intended purpose or for damage caused by external forces or any other externalfactors.Î Refer to the technical data and nameplate for limits and fields of application as well aspossible uses.Reasonably foreseeable misuseThe regulators are not suitable for the following applications:– Use outside the limits defined during sizing and by the technical data– Use outside the limits defined by the accessories mounted on the regulatorFurthermore, the following activities do not comply with the intended use:– Use of non-original spare parts– Performing service and repair work not described in these instructionsQualifications of operating personnelThe regulator must be mounted, started up, serviced and repaired by fully trained and quali-fied personnel only; the accepted industry codes and practices are to be observed. Accord-ing to these mounting and operating instructions, trained personnel refers to individuals whoare able to judge the work they are assigned to and recognize possible hazards due to theirspecialized training, their knowledge and experience as well as their knowledge of the appli-cable standards.
