EB 3964 EN 13Electrical connection4.1 Connecting cableA connector type C according toEN 175301-803 (distance between contacts8 mm) or a connector type C according toindustrial standard (distance between con-tacts 9.4 mm) is used for the electrical con-nection.Observe clause 12 of EN 60079-14: 2008(VDE 0165, Part 1) for installation of theintrinsically safe circuits. Clause 12.2.2.7applies when running multi-core cables andwires with more than one intrinsically safecircuit.Preferably use connecting lines with mini-mum 0.5 mm² conductor cross-section and3.5 to 6 mm outside diameter. The radial thickness of the insulation of aconductor for common insulating materials(e.g. polyethylene) must not be smaller than0.2 mm. The diameter of an individual wirein a fine-stranded conductor must not besmaller than 0.1 mm. Protect the conductorends against splicing, e.g. by using wire-endferrules. 12Fig. 6: Wiring diagram for connectorAdhere to the terminal assignment. Switch-ing the assignment of the electrical terminalsmay cause the explosion protection to be-come ineffective.Do not loosen enameled screws in or on thehousing. The maximum permissible values specified inthe EC type examination certificates applywhen interconnecting intrinsically safe elec-trical equipment (Ui or U0, l i or I0, Pi or P0, Cior C0 and Li or L0). See page 15.4.2 Devices for Zones 2 and22In equipment operated according to type ofprotection Ex nA II (non-sparking equipment)according to EN 60079-15:2003, circuitsmay be connected, interrupted or switchedwhile energized only during installation, maintenance or repair.Equipment connected to energy-limited cir-cuits with type of protection Ex nL (ener-gy-limited equipment) according toEN 60079-15:2003 may be switched undernormal operating conditions. The maximum permissible values specified inthe statement of conformity or its addenda(see page 13) apply when interconnectingthe equipment with energy-limited circuits intype of protection Ex nL IIC.WARNING!
