37MeteringIf you cannot obtain suitable exposure conditions, you can changethe metering method to take brighter pictures.[Multi] ( ) : Exposure will becalculated based onan average of theavailable light in theimage area. However, the calculation will bebiased towards thecentre of the image area. This is suitable forgeneral use.[Spot] ( ) : Only the rectangular area in the centre of theLCD monitor will be metered for light. This issuitable when the subject in the centre isexposed correctly, regardless of the back light-ing.[Center Weighted] ( ) : Exposure will be calculated based on an averageof the available light in the image area. However, the calculation will be biased towards the centre ofthe image area. This is suitable for taking a pictureof small object like a flower or insects.Ä If the subject is not the centre of the focus area, do not use thespot metering as this may result in an exposure error. In thiscircumstance, it is better to use exposure compensation.METERINGMultiFn buttonDRIVESingleDrive modeYou can select continuous shot, and AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing).[Single] ( ) : Take one picture only.[Continuous] ( ) : Images will be takencontinuously until theshutter button isreleased.[AEB] ( ) : Take three picturesin a series in differentexposures: short exposure (-1/3EV), stan-dard exposure (0.0EV), and over exposure(+1/3EV). High resolution and picture quality increases file saving time, which increases stand-by time. If the [Continuous], [AEB] sub menu is selected, the flash will beoff automatically. If less than 3 pictures are available in the memory, the AEBshooting is not available. It is best to use a tripod for the AEB shooting as the time to saveeach image file is longer and blurring caused by camera shakemay occur.
