In theevent of an electrical short circuit,grounding reduces the risk of electricshock by providing an escape wire forthe electrical current. This appliance isequipped with a cord that includes agrounding wire and a grounding plug.The plug must be plugged into an outletthat is properly installed and grounded.Plug the three-prong power cord into aproperly grounded outlet of standard115-120 voltage, 60 Hz. Your ovenshould be the only appliance on thiscircuit.WARNINGImproper use of the groundingplug can result in a risk of electricshock. Consult a qualifiedelectrician or servicer if you do notunderstand the groundinginstructions or if you are not sure ifthe appliance is properlygrounded.Use of Extension CordsA short power-supply cord is provided toreduce the risk of becoming entangled inor tripping over a longer cord. Longercord sets or extension cords areavailable and may be used if care isexercised in their use. If a long cord orextension cord is used:1. The marked electrical rating of thecord set or extension cord should beat least as great as the electricalrating of the appliance.2. The extension cord must be agrounding-type 3-wire cord and itmust be plugged into a 3-slot outlet.3. The longer cord should be arrangedso that it will not drape over thecounter top or tabletop where it canbe pulled on by children or trippedover accidentally. If you use anextension cord, the interior light mayflicker and the blower may vary whenthe microwave oven is on.
