45 Sideloading FilesNOOKSideloading means transferringfiles from your personalcomputer to your NOOK overthe USB cable.Note: If your personal computer is a Mac, you willneed to install a free software program, Android FileTransfer (AFT), on your computer before you cantransfer files to and from your NOOK. AFT is availablehere: https://www.android.com/filetransfer/.If your computer is a PC, it will automatically detectyour NOOK and install the software drivers it needs, ifthey are not already installed.To sideload content:1. Connect your NOOK’s USB cable to a USB porton your computer.2. Connect the other end of the cable to yourdevice’s Charger/Accessory Port on the bottomedge of your NOOK.Once you have connected your NOOK to yourcomputer, you will be able to access yourNOOK’s storage as though it were anotherdrive connected to your computer. The MyFiles subfolder folder in the NOOK folder is forpersonal files you have not purchased throughthe NOOK Store. For example, if you havecreated PDFs on your computer and want to viewthem on your NOOK, you can drag them to theMy Files folder.3. Select the files you want to transfer from yourcomputer, then drag and drop them from yourcomputer to the My Files subfolder on yourNOOK.4. Once you finish sideloading the files you wantto transfer, disconnect your NOOK from yourcomputer by using your computer’s file systemto eject your NOOK as if you are ejecting a disk.Disconnect the USB cable.5. To view your personal files once you have copiedthem to the My Files folder, open your NOOKLibrary on your device and scroll down to the MyFiles section of your Library.Note: To view the amount of storage available onyour NOOK, open the Settings app, tap the Generaltab, and tap Storage in the menu on the left.Note: You can also transfer files to your NOOKusing Dropbox or any other file-sharing app youhave installed on your device.Sideloading Files
