48Section 5: Entering TextThis section describes how to enter words, letters, punctuationand numbers when you need to enter text.Virtual QWERTY KeyboardYour phone provides a virtual QWERTY keyboard for text entry.Use the keyboard to enter letters, punctuation, numbers, andother characters into text entry fields or applications. Access thekeyboard by touching any text entry field.The virtual QWERTY keyboard displays at the bottom of thescreen, in either portrait or landscape orientation. By default,when you rotate the phone, the screen orientation updates todisplay the keyboard at the bottom of the screen.Entering Text Using the Android KeyboardThe Android Keyboard is a custom virtual QWERTY keyboard,featuring predictive text. Input characters by tapping the on-screen keys with your finger.As you enter characters, predictive text matches your keytouches to common words and displays them. Select a wordfrom the display to insert it into your text.Configuring Android KeyboardYou can configure the Android Keyboard to your preferences. Formore information, see “Android keyboard settings” on page 92.Entering Upper and Lower Case LettersThe default case is lower case (abc).
