D.1USING W INDOWS POSTSCRIPT D RIVERSetting Your Printer with the PS OptionIf you want to use the PostScript driver to print a document,your printer should have:• PS SIMM (Option)• 12 MB or more RAM. ML-1450 comes with 4 MB RAM, soadditional 8 MB or more RAM should be added. (ML-1451Ncome with 16 MB RAM, so additional RAM is not required.)For instructions on installing the printer options,see Appendix F, “Printer Options.”Installing PPD FilesPPDs, in combination with the PostScript driver, access theprinter features and allow the computer to communicate withthe printer. An installation program for the PPDs is provided onthe ML-1450 CD-ROM.Notes:• Installing the PostScript printer driver may require the use of theoperating system files on the original CD-ROM or diskette thatcame with your system.• If you have a PostScript 3 driver and want to use it, you must installthe PostScript 3 PPD which is also provided on the ML-1450 seriesCD-ROM.Before installing PPD files, make sure that the printer andthe PC are properly connected with parallel, USB, or optionalnetwork interface. For information on:• Connecting with parallel interface, see page 2.8.• Connecting with an USB interface, see page 2.17,“Installing USB Driver.” To use the USB interface, you mustalso install the USB port driver.• Connecting with an optional network interface,see page F.5, “Network Interface Card.”
