Recognizingthat each user may have different requirements, however,Samsung makes several options available to enhance theprinter’s capabilities.This chapter includes:• Precaution When Installing Printer Options• Installing Memory DIMM• Installing a Network Card• Using the Hard Disk• Installing an Optional Tray 2• Installing a Duplex UnitPrecaution When InstallingPrinter OptionsDISCONNECT THE POWER CORD:Never remove the printer control board while the printer isplugged in.To avoid the possibility of an electrical shock, always disconnectthe power cord when installing or removing ANY internal orexternal printer option.DISCHARGE STATIC ELECTRICITY:The control board and internal printer options (Memory DIMM,Network Card and Hard Disk) are sensitive to static electricity.Before installing or removing an internal option, dischargestatic electricity from your body by touching something metal,such as the metal back plate on any device plugged into agrounded power source. If you walk round before finishinginstallation, discharge any static electricity once again.Installing Memory DIMMYour printer has a dual in-line memory module (DIMM) slot. Usethis DIMM slot to install more memory for the printer.N OTE: Your printer has 32 MB of memory which can beexpanded to 288 MB. Use only the Samsung-approved DIMM.Contact your Samsung dealer.1 Turn the printer power off and unplug all cables from theprinter.2 Remove the duplex-slot cover from the back of the printer.If you installed an optional duplex unit, remove it from theprinter.
