The phone goes into standby mode:• After you power the phone on.• When you press after a call or from within a menu.In standby mode, you will see the time, day, and date as well asall active phone status icons.1. While in standby mode, enter a phone number, and pressto place a call.2. Press to end the call and return to standby mode.Receive Messages in Standby ModeYou can receive messages in standby mode. An alert tone soundsand a notification message appears in the display when a newmessage arrives. The following options also appear in thedisplay:• View Now• View LaterUse the Navigation key to highlight the desired option and pressthe key.Talk ModeYou can place and receive calls only when your phone is on.While in a call your phone is in Talk mode. Press the Options(right) soft key ( ) to display a list of menu options. For moreinformation, refer to “The In-Use Options” on page 32.Speakerphone ModeWhile in standby mode or Talk mode, press and hold theSpeakerphone key ( ) to switch from using the earpiece to thespeakerphone (speakerphone option) and back to using theearpiece. Use the volume keys — located on the left side of yourphone — to adjust the volume.In Speakerphone mode, press and hold the Speakerphone key( ) to switch back to using the earpiece.Vibrate ModeSilence all tones your phone makes and replace them withvibrations. In standby mode, repeatedly press and the Down volumekey ( ) until Vibrate appears in the display.The volume key is on the upper left side of phone, near theupper left soft corner of the display.
