Section 22268 HotSync® OperationsPerforming a HotSync Operation via a NetworkWhen you use the Network HotSync software, you can takeadvantage of the LAN and WAN connectivity available in manyoffice environments. The Network HotSync software allows youto perform a HotSync operation by dialing in to a network orby using a cradle that is connected to any computer on yourLAN or WAN (provided that the computer connected to thecradle also has the Network HotSync software installed, yourcomputer is on, and the HotSync Manager is running). TheNetwork HotSync software requires the following: Your computer has TCP/IP support installed. Both your company’s network system and its remote accessserver support TCP/IP. (Your system administrator hasthis information.) You have a remote access account. (If you don’t have anaccount, consult your system administrator.)Everything you need to connect to your company’s dial-inserver (network modem) is included with Palm Desktopsoftware and your phone software. You need to activate thefeature, however, on both Palm Desktop software and yourphone.Performing a Network HotSync Operation1. Click the HotSync Manager icon in the Windows task barto open the HotSync Manager.2. From the HotSync Manager menu, click “Network”.3. From the HotSync Manager menu, click “Setup”.4. Click the “Network” tab.5. Click on the user name to select. A check mark is placednext to the user name.6. Click “OK”.7. Perform a HotSync operation as normal.
