1514Using the battery.Your Phone comes with a partially charged, recharge-able Lithium Ion (Li-ion) Battery so that you can useyour phone immediately after it is activated.Installing the battery.To attach the battery to your Phone:1. Hold the battery so that the metal contacts onthe base of the battery line up with the metalcontacts on the base of the phone.2. Place the battery on the back of the phone withthe top of the battery about a quarter of an inchfrom the latch.3. Gently slide the battery toward the top of thephone until it snaps into place.Charging the battery.You can tell whether or not your battery needs to berecharged by checking the upper-right corner ofyour phone’s display.When the battery charge level gets low, the batterysensor will let you know by blinking the batteryicon, sounding a tone and displaying a message. If thebattery level gets too low, the phone will turn offautomatically. Unfortunately, if this happens you’lllose whatever you were just doing, including drop-ping your call.Watch the battery strength icon andmake sure your battery is adequately charged.Display indicators.Display indicators appear across the top of yourphone’s display screen.These display indicators (oricons) will vary based your phone’s operating mode.Signal strength: This icon shows yourcurrent signal strength. More lines indicatemore signal strength. Four lines indicate maxi-mum strength, and one line indicates leaststrength.Service indicator: This icon indicates a callis in progress.No service indicator: This icon indicatesyour phone cannot find a signal becauseyou’re outside a service area.When this is dis-played, you cannot make or receive calls.Waita little while for a signal or move into an openarea.Roaming: Appears when you are out of yourhome area and have registered with a differentnetwork.Message indicator: This icon indicates youhave message(s) waiting. Press OK to see themessage menu, or press and hold to be con-nected to Voicemail.Analog mode: This icon indicates yourphone is operating in analog mode.Vibrator on: This icon means that an incom-ing call will vibrate the phone rather than ringit.This feature is good for quiet situationswhere you don’t want your ringer to disturbothers.Battery strength: This icon shows the levelof your battery charge.The more black barsyou see, the greater the charge.When the ba-ttery becomes very low, an empty box appearsand the phone flashes an alert.
