The greater the numberof bars, the better the signal.Service: Appears when a call is inprogress.No Service: Appears when you areoutside a service area. When it displays,you cannot make or receive calls. Wait alittle while for a better signal or moveinto an open area to regain service.Roaming: Appears when you are out ofyour home area and have logged onto adifferent network; for example, whentravelling in other countries.New Message: Indicates that there is anew SMS message waiting to bechecked. The message icon blinks whenan urgent message is received. It is alsoblinks if a message is received but thememory is full.Alarm: Appears when you set an alarmto ring at a specified time.Your Phone13BacklightThe backlight illuminates the display and keypad.When you press any key, the backlight illuminates.It turns off if no key is pressed within a givenperiod of time, depending on your setting in theBacklight menu.To specify the length of time the phone waitsbefore the backlight turns off, set the Backlightmenu.Vibration: Appears when your phone isin Vibrate mode or it is set to vibratewhen a call comes in the RingerVolume menu.Battery Status: Shows the level ofyour battery.
