194Enabling a Location sourceBefore you use Google Maps and find your location or searchfor places of interest, you must enable a location source. Toenable the location source you must enable the wirelessnetwork, or enable the GPS satellites.Important! The more location determining functions areenabled, the more accurate the determination willbe of your position.1. From the main Settings page, tap More tab ➔ Locationservices.2. Tap Access to my location to enable applications whohave requested location access to use yourinformation.3. Tap Use GPS satellites to enable the GPS satellite.4. Tap Use wireless networks to allow apps to use datafrom sources such as Wi-Fi and mobile networks toprovide a better approximation of your current location.5. Tap My places to enable the storage of your favoritelocations.To receive better GPS signals, avoid using your device in thefollowing conditions:• inside a building or between buildings• in a tunnel or underground passage• in poor weather• around high-voltage or electromagnetic fields• in a vehicle with tinted windowsOpening Maps1. From the Home screen, tap (Apps) ➔(Maps).2. Tap the upper-right My location button to find yourlocation on the map with a blinking blue dot.3. Locate the bottom row of the buttons to accessadditional options:• Search: allows you to search for a place of interest.• Directions: displays navigation directions to a location from astarting point.
