Section 14: Health and Safety Information 181Health and Safety InformationSection 14SAR tests are conducted using standard operatingpositions accepted by the FCC with the phonetransmitting at its highest certified power level in alltested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determinedat the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level ofthe phone while operating can be well below themaximum value. This is because the phone is designed tooperate at multiple power levels so as to use only thepower required to reach the network. In general, thecloser you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lowerthe power output.Before a new model phone is available for sale to thepublic, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that itdoes not exceed the exposure limit established by theFCC. Tests for each model phone are performed inpositions and locations (e.g. at the ear and worn on thebody) as required by the FCC. Body-worn operations arerestricted to Samsung-supplied, approved, or non-Samsung designated accessories that have no metal andmust provide at least 1.5 cm separation between thedevice, including its antenna (whether extended orretracted) and the user's body. Non-compliance with theabove restrictions may result in violation of FCC RFexposure guidelines.
