70 _TroubleshootingSOLVING OTHER PROBLEMSThe following chart lists some conditions that may occur and therecommended solutions. Follow the suggested solutions until the problem iscorrected. If the problem persists, call for service.Paper feedingToner ExhaustedTA toner cartridge hasreached its estimatedcartridge life. Theprinter stops printing.Estimatedcartridge lifemeans theexpected orestimated tonercartridge life, whichindicates the averagecapacity of print-outsand is designedpursuant to ISO/IEC19752. (SeeSpecification on page81.) The number ofpages may beaffected by operatingenvironment, printinginterval, media type,and media size. Someamount of toner mayremain in the cartridgeeven when "TonerExhausted" appearsand the printer stopsprinting.Replace the tonercartridge. (See page 61.)Toner LowTSmall amount of toneris left in the cartridge.The estimatedcartridge life of toneris close.Prepare a new cartridgefor replacement. You maytemporarily increase theprinting quality byredistributing the toner.(See page 60.)Updating DataPlease Wait...This messageappears when there isa change in thesystem setting orwhen you back up adata.Do not turn the power offwhen this message isshowing. See page 64.Paper stickstogether.• Ensure there is not too much paper in the tray.The tray can hold up to 250 sheets of paper,depending on the thickness of your paper.• Make sure that you are using the correct typeof paper. See page 36.• Remove paper from the tray and flex or fan thepaper.• Humid conditions may cause some paper tostick together.Multiple sheets ofpaper do not feed.• Different types of paper may be stacked in thetray. Load paper of only one type, size, andweight.• If multiple sheets have caused a paper jam,clear the paper jam. See page 64.Paper does not feedinto the machine.• Remove any obstructions from inside themachine.• Paper has not been loaded correctly. Removepaper from the tray and reload it correctly.• There is too much paper in the tray. Removeexcess paper from the tray.• The paper is too thick. Use only paper thatmeets the specifications required by themachine. See page 31.• If an original does not feed into the machine,the ADF rubber pad may require to bereplaced. See page 62.The paper keepsjamming.• There is too much paper in the tray. Removeexcess paper from the tray. If you are printingon special materials, use the manual tray.• An incorrect type of paper is being used. Useonly paper that meets the specificationsrequired by the machine. See page 31.• There may be debris inside the machine. Openthe front cover and remove the debris.• If an original does not feed into the machine,the ADF rubber pad may require to bereplaced. See page 62.Envelopes skew orfail to feed correctly.Ensure the paper guides are against both sides ofthe envelopes.
