G ETTING STARTED1.10USB MODEUSB mode selections are FAST and SLOW.FAST is the default mode. Some PC usersmay experience poor USB implementationin the default mode. If this occurs, selectthe SLOW mode in order to achievesuccessful results.FAXDUPLEXWith this option enabled, you can print 2-sided fax pages. You can select LONG EDGEor SHORT EDGE according to the desiredbinding orientation. Setting OFF turns thefeature off.IMAGEQUALITYYou can improve the print quality to 1200dpi for copying. The TEXT setting refines theprint quality of characters by smoothing outjagged edges that can occur on the anglesand curves of the characters. The IMAGEsetting refines the print quality of photoimage by smoothing the shades of grey. TheNORMAL setting will print the received faxeswith normal quality (600 dpi).NOTE: If you use the TEXT setting fordocuments with photographs or the IMAGEsetting for text documents, you may not getthe desired print quality.SCANSLEEPMODEThe scan lamp under the document glassautomatically turns off when it is not inactual use to reduce power consumptionand extend the lamp life. The lamp willautomatically wake up after some warm-uptime when you start to scan.This option allows you to determine thelength of time the scan lamp waits after ascan job is completed before it switches tosleep mode. Select from 4HOURS, 8HOURSand 12 HOURS. Setting OFF leaves the lampon all the time.NetworkSetupYou can use your machine as a networkprinter by installing an optional networkinterface card.
