Troubleshooting_ 157Common PostScript problemsThe following situations are PS language specific and may occur whenseveral printer languages are used.Common Windows problemsRefer to Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista User’s Guide thatcame with your computer for further information on Windows errormessages.The machine dials anumber, but theconnection with theother fax machinefails.The other fax machine may be turned off, out ofpaper, or cannot answer incoming calls. Speakwith the other machine operator and ask her/himto solve out the problem.Faxes do not store inmemory.There may not be enough memory space tostore the fax. If the display indicating thememory status shows, delete any faxes you nolonger need from the memory, and then try tostore the fax again.Blank areas appearat the bottom ofeach page or onother pages, with asmall strip of text atthe topYou may have chosen the wrong paper settingsin the user option setting. For details aboutpaper settings (see "Tray setting" on page 47).Problem Possible cause SolutionPostScript filecannot be printed.The PostScriptdriver may not beinstalled correctly.• Install the PostScriptdriver.• Print a configurationpage and verify thatthe PS version isavailable for printing.• If the problem persists,contact a servicerepresentative.“Limit Check Error”message appears.The print job wastoo complex.You might need toreduce the complexity ofthe page or install morememory.A PostScript errorpage prints.The print job maynot be PostScript.Make sure that the printjob is a PostScript job.Check to see whetherthe software applicationexpected a setup orPostScript header file tobe sent to the machine.The optional dualcassette feeder (tray3, tray 4) is notselected in thedriver.The printer driverhas not beenconfigured torecognize theoptional dualcassette feeder(tray 3, tray 4).Open the PostScriptdriver properties, selectthe Device Options tab,and set the tray option ofthe Tray Optionssection.When printing adocument in MACwith Acrobat Reader6.0 or higher, colorsprint incorrectly.The resolutionsetting in the printerdriver may not bematched with theone in AcrobatReader.Make sure that theresolution setting in yourprinter driver matchesthe one in AcrobatReader.condition suggested solutionsCondition Suggested solutions“File in Use”message appearsduring installation.Exit all software applications. Remove allsoftware from the printer’s startup group, thenrestart Windows. Reinstall the printer driver.“General ProtectionFault”, “ExceptionOE”, “Spool 32”, or“Illegal Operation”messages appear.Close all other applications, reboot Windowsand try printing again.“Fail To Print”, “Aprinter timeout erroroccurred” messagesappear.These messages may appear during printing.Just keep waiting until the machine finishesprinting. If the message appears in standbymode or after printing has been completed,check the connection and/or whether an errorhas occurred.
