47Entering textWhen using your phone, you will often need toenter text, such as when storing a name inPhonebook, writing a message, creating yourpersonal greeting or scheduling events on yourcalendar. You can enter alphanumeric characters byusing your phone’s keypad.Your phone has the following text input modes:• T9 modeThis mode allows you to enter words with onlyone keystroke per letter. Each key on the keypadhas more than one letter; for example, pressingthe 5 key can enter J, K, or L. However, T9 modeautomatically compares the series of keystrokesyou make with an internal linguistic dictionary todetermine the most likely word, thus requiring farfewer keystrokes than the traditional Alphabetmode.• Alphabet modeThis mode allows you to enter letters by pressingthe key labelled with the letter you want.
