It also explains the features and functionalityassociated with messaging.Types of MessagesYour phone provides the following message types:• Text Messages• Multimedia (Picture, Video, and Audio) Messages• IM Messages• Email and Gmail Messages• Google TalkMessage Icons on the Status BarIcons are displayed on the Status Bar at the top of the displaywhen new messages are received. For more information, refer to“Status Bar” on page 23.Creating and Sending MessagesThe Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive textmessages to and from other mobile phones or email addresses.To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your serviceprovider’s message service.The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) lets you send andreceive multimedia messages (such as picture, video, and audiomessages) to and from other mobile phones or email addresses.To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your serviceprovider’s multimedia message service.Important!: When creating a message, adding an image, a sound file, or avideo clip to a text message changes the message from a textmessage to a multimedia message.Messaging icons are displayed at the top of the screen andindicate when messages are received and their type. For moreinformation, refer to “Indicator Icons” on page 23.1. From the Home screen, tap (Messaging) ➔ Newmessage.2. Tap on the To field to manually enter a recipient or selectone of the following:• Recent: to select a recipient from a list of recently sent messages.• Contacts: to select a recipient from your Contacts list (valid entriesmust have a wireless phone number or email address).• Group: to select a recipient from the Group list.
