201USB SettingsThis menu selects the method of communication for the USBport.Note: Before initiating a USB connection with the phone you must disable theBluetooth feature, and/or USB debugging feature.1. Press ➔ and then tap (Settings) ➔Applications ➔ USB settings.2. Select one of the following USB modes:• Samsung Kies: connects your phone to a PC and prepares it for adirect firmware update.• Media player: connects your phone to a PC in order to synchronizefiles with Windows Media Player.• Mass storage: allows you to use the onboard storage capacity ofthe phone to store and upload files. This option allows yourcomputer to detect the phone as a removable storage drive. Formore information, refer to “Memory Card” on page 49.• Ask on connection: this default setting provides an on-screenprompt that allows you to choose from one of the above USBconnection types once a direct USB connection is detected.Accounts and SynchronizationYour phone provides the ability to synchronize data from a varietyof different sources or sites. These accounts can range fromGoogle, a Corporate Microsoft Exchange Email Server, and othersocial sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. Corporateand Google accounts provide the ability to synchronize Calendarevents and Contacts.To enable the auto-sync feature:1. Press ➔ and then tap (Settings) ➔Accounts and sync.2. Tap Auto-sync. A green checkmark indicates the feature isenabled. This feature enables the synchronization of databetween your phone and external sites or servers.• The three main components are Contacts Email, and CalendarEvents. Before these can be synchronized, they must be added tothe managed accounts list.• Background data: allows your phone to use data in thebackground.
