This section alsodescribes the predictive text entry system that reduces the amountof key strokes associated with entering text.Your phone comes equipped with an orientation detector that cantell if the phone is being held in an upright (Portrait) or sideways(Landscape) orientation. This is useful when entering text.Text Input MethodsThere are three text input methods available:• Samsung Keypad: Samsung’s on-screen QWERTY keypad thatcan be used in both portrait and landscape orientation.• Swype: a new way to enter text on touch screens. Instead oftapping each key, use your finger to trace over each letter of aword.To change the input method, see “Select input method” onpage 107.Using the Samsung KeypadThis QWERTY keypad can be used to enter text in either portraitor landscape orientation. The only difference between the twoorientations are the sizes of the keys.Enabling Samsung KeypadUsing the QWERTY keypad/ keyboard, you can type letters,numbers, punctuation, and other characters.To use the Samsung keypad you must first configure the settingsto use the Samsung keypad.1.
