Entering Text43Entering TextWhen using your phone, you often need to enter text, suchas when storing a name in Phonebook, creating yourpersonal greeting or scheduling events on your calendar.You can enter alphanumeric characters by using yourphone’s keypad.Your phone has the following text input modes:♦T9 modeThis mode allows you to enter words with only onekeystroke per letter. Each key on the keypad has morethan one letter; for example, when you press the keyonce, J, K or L displays. The T9 mode automaticallycompares your keystrokes with an internal linguisticdictionary to determine the correct word, thus requiring farfewer keystrokes than the traditional upper/lower-casecharacter modes.♦Upper/lower-case character modesThese modes allow you to enter letters by pressing thekey labeled with the letter you want to enter once, twice,three or four times until the letter displays.♦Symbol modeThis mode allows you to enter symbols, such aspunctuation marks.♦Number modeThis mode allows you to enter numbers.Changing the Text Input ModeWhen you are in a field that allows characters to beentered, you will notice the text input mode indicator onthe display.
