Installing the System 3–5Installing CardsRack SlotsThe RCMP -D card, RGPS-K card, MCPU2 card and subscriber cards are installed in the system rack asshown. Subscriber cards are mounted in card slots UCS0–UCS3 (slots 3–6).ProcedureBefore you begin installing the cards you require into the rack, you should set the jumpers and switches onthe cards so that they work appropriately. (This information is provided in the documentation supplied on theDCS Gateway CD-ROM.) Also, take note of the following precautions.• High-voltage electrostatic charge can accumulate easily in the human body. Remove any charge bytouching a grounded component of the system or other object (such as a radiator) with your hands beforehandling cards. Wear an antistatic wristband if you have one.• Any surface where cards are placed must be wrapped in conducting material and grounded. Also, placethe ground clip connected to the electrostatic -proof bag in contact with the surface.• Try not to touch the edge connectors on the cards or any pins on the jumpers.Install the cards as follows. (The PRI4 card is used as an example in the illustrations; however, all cards areinserted into slots following the same procedure.)1. Choose the card you want to install and examine it carefully for any damage. If this is the power card,check that the power switch on the card is turned OFF before inserting the card. Also, check againthat jumpers and switches are properly set (if required).2.
