It also explains the features and functionalityassociated with messaging.Types of MessagesYour phone provides the following message types via theUniversal Composer:• Text Messages• Multimedia (Picture, Video, and Audio) Messages• Email and Gmail Messages• Group Texting• Google TalkMessage Icons on the Status BarIcons are displayed on the Status Bar at the top of the displaywhen new messages are received. For more information, refer to“Status Bar” on page 24.Creating and Sending Messages via UniversalComposerThe Universal Composer is a messaging feature that lets yousend and receive text messages to and from other mobile phonesor email addresses. This feature does much more than just sendand receive text, but incorporate other features such asemoticons, audio, media and much more (page 101). To use thisfeature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider’smessage service.The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) lets you send andreceive multimedia messages (such as picture, video, and audiomessages) to and from other mobile phones or email addresses.To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your serviceprovider’s multimedia message service.Important!: When creating a message, adding an image, a sound file, or avideo clip to a text message changes the message from a textmessage to a multimedia message.Messaging icons are displayed at the top of the screen andindicate when messages are received and their type. For moreinformation, refer to “Indicator Icons” on page 24.1. From the Home screen, tap (Messaging) ➔ Createnew message.2. Tap on the To field to manually enter a recipient or tapto select a recipient from your Contacts list (validentries must have a wireless phone number or emailaddress).
