Glossary● 480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080pGenerally refers to the number of effective scanning lines that determines the screen's resolution. There are two scanning methods: interlaced and progressive.– ScanningSequential projection of pixels to form images. The higher the number of pixels, the clearerand more vivid the images.– ProgressiveA sequential scanning method that scans every line, one after another.– InterlacedA staggered scanning method that scans every other line until the end of the screen and thenfills in the remaining lines.Example) If the number of horizontal scan lines is 480iScans 240 lines from start to finish and then scans the remaining 240 lines for a total of 480lines.* General differences between 480i and 480p are as follows:480i 480pHorizontal Frequency 15.75Khz 31.5KhzFPS 30 60Lines on Screen 480 480● ARC (Audio Return Channel)Generally, a separate RCA or optical cable needs to be connected in order for the TV audio tobe heard through an AV receiver. With receivers that support ARC, however, digital audio can betransmitted via the HDMI cable only.● DVI (Digital Visual Interface)Connecting the TV's DVI connector to a computer's DVI connector via an HDMI-to-DVI cablelets you use the TV as a computer monitor. However, HDMI-to-DVI cables deliver video signalsonly. You must connect a set of speakers to the computer using a separate cable to hear thecomputer's audio.● HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface)HDMI is a method of transmitting both video and audio signals via a single cable.
